Sheetmetal Apprenticeship

The Sheet Metal J.A.T.C apprenticeship is a five year program. To graduate our apprenticeship program, you need 8000 work hours as well as 750 school hours. One month each apprenticeship year, you attend our training center. While attending school you are paid 60% of your current wage. The remaining months you are placed with a union company for on the job training. Local 17 offers great health insurance, dental, and eye care after 90 days and 300 hours of employment.

This program is designed to help military service members successfully transition back into civilian life by offering them training for a quality career in the construction industry. SMW17 values our veterans and we’re proud to offer programs that help returning veterans become building trade professionals. No prior experience is needed and most successful placements start with virtually no experience in the building trades. Better yet, you get to earn-while-you-learn! Please call us at (617) 296-1680 if you want to learn more about programs for veterans.
