The Iron Workers Local # 28, is a 4-year accredited apprentice program. It is made up of 816 training hours and 8,000 on the job hours over a 4-year period. Classes are held Sept.– May, one Friday, Saturday, Sunday a month, 8 hours a day. Apprentices start at 60% of journeyman rate and progress 5% every 6 months until they reach 100%. Apprentices earn while they learn to become a journeyman ironworker. Iron Workers Local #28 is an American Welding Society test facility and we do all of our testing in house.
Training is provided at no cost to the Apprentice • All apprentices receive health insurance and retirement benefits for themselves and their family at NO COST TO YOU • Can earn college credit for some courses • Apprentices are mentored by journeyman ironworkers • Apprentices will learn to prefect their craft in the classroom
