We value leadership, transparency, fairness, and efficiency as we actively seek diverse talents from various sectors to join our team.The Team Youll Work With:The Mayors Office of Mass Engagement (OME) is responsible for strategizing, coordinating, and executing on engagement that reaches the masses of everyday New Yorkers. We engage New Yorkers in shaping policy outcomes, demystifying government, and ensuring that the government remains accountable to serving the people of this great City. Our work is designed as a long term project we are building the power of everyday New Yorkers and we are building a City that works for all of us.About the Role: The Borough Lead will:- Assist the Deputy Borough Director and/or Borough Manager with maintaining key relationships in the borough and track high level issues within the borough;- Work with other staff to help identify and maintain organizing opportunities in the borough;- Help with building layers of engagement throughout the borough;- Attend relevant civic, community board, community meetings, and other events;- When relevant, ensure follow-up on constituent cases;- In emergency situations, Borough Leads support the Deputy Borough Director and/or Borough Manager, who might be asked to be on the scene to represent the Mayors Office. Emergency situations include, but are not limited to, blackouts, tragic deaths, high-profile crimes, fires where citizens are impacted, and water main breaks or street collapses where citizens are evacuated from their homes;- Help move Office of Mass Engagement initiatives forward with their borough team;- Providing additional support as necessary.
Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or 2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above. Experienced (non-manager)
