Grant Specialist: Public Works Construction
Put your public works construction experience to work reviewing infrastructure projects funded by a Texas state agency. You’ll connect bid items, payment records, material lists, and manufacturer certifications to help grant recipients meet Build America, Buy America (BABA) documentation requirements. The agency can train the right candidate on its review process; practical construction knowledge is essential.
The Team You Will Be Joining
- Join a Texas state agency that supports grant-funded public infrastructure projects and helps recipients meet program requirements.
Major Duties
- Review bid tabulations, pay estimates, material lists, and manufacturer certifications for water, sewer, street, and similar projects.
- Compare project materials with bid items and flag missing or inconsistent documentation.
- Complete review checklists, document findings, and identify questions for agency staff.
- Help grant recipients and project stakeholders submit complete records; track follow-up items and escalate complex BABA questions.
What are we looking for?
- Practical public works construction experience and the ability to recognize materials used in infrastructure projects.
- Ability to read bid tabulations, pay estimates, material lists, and construction certifications.
- Clear communication with contractors, utilities, engineers, local governments, or grant recipients.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to explain documentation needs clearly.
- Water or wastewater project experience, grant-funded construction experience, or familiarity with BABA or HUD-funded programs is a plus.

- Rate: $57 per hour

- Days/Hours: M-F, up to 40 hours
